Northwoods Canoe Cam Blog

There is just me and Peter in the shop and Pam for the shipping.  The three boats in the work room all belong to Harry Kaiser. A unidentified sq. stern motor canoe and two twenty foot long E.M. Whites.  They all are in rough shape!  The Whites are great hulls and are excellent Guide Canoes but these hulls had been fiberglassed and now its going to take a lot of work to get some life back into the wood hulls.  I just put new inside rails on the canoe to the right.  Peter just put new decks and stem tips in the middle canoe.  The boat to the left just had a new transom, inside keelson and new deck installed.  Peter is also working on installing a bunch of new ribs in the boat.

Two days ago it was -10 degrees outside and yesterday it warmed up and rained for about 24 hours!  Everything is at flood stage including the driveway.   The snow in the valley's of the shop roof suddenly got a lot heavier and it will not be long before we'll have to spend a day moving snow off the roof. Maybe we'll be able to catch Kineo on a day off from school as an extra worker!

Welcome to the Blog of the Northwoods Canoe Web Cam. Located in Atkinson, Maine, we have been custom building new and restoring wooden boats and canoes for over 30 years. We specialize in wood and canvas canoe construction but we also work on a wide selection of wooden boats. In addition to the work on the boats and canoes we offer a wide range of specialized canoe material to those working on their own boat. Private classes are offered to those that want to come to the shop and build their own wooden canoe. The web cam in the shop is very recent and we are still in the experimental stage with it.
