Garrett is still hard at work milling out lumber. First it was milling out 10 foot long planking from 4" square cedar blocks that were 10 feet long. Then it was milling out 400 rib blanks from five foot long boards. Today he is making 8foot long planking from rough boards that are one inch thick . We can get three planks from a one inch thick board if we cut very carefully. Garrett will be making about 250 planks if he doesn't get too boored cutting boards!

We specialize in wood and canvas canoe construction but we also work on a wide selection of wooden boats. In addition to the work on the boats and canoes we offer a wide range of specialized canoe material to those working on their own boat. Private classes are offered to those that want to come to the shop and build their own wooden canoe. The web cam in the shop is very recent and we are still in the experimental stage with it.
